Master of Puppets, Wisconsin’s premiere Metallica tribute act, from the opening song till the final encore will have you banging your head, pumping your fist in the air and thinking back to a day when going to see a metal show was all about the music and the energy that came from 80’s thrash era Metallica. Playing songs exclusively from Kill ‘em All through …And Justice for All, Master of Puppets leaves no stone unturned, and this hard work has earned them many a WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) nomination for Metal Act and Tribute act of the year.

Master of Puppets was formed in 2015 by Jim Blackwell (Lead Guitar) and Kurt Megal (Rhythm Guitar, Lead Vocals) and after some fine-tuning Benny Boswell (Drums) joined in 2017 kicking it up a notch with both kicks. In 2023 Ryan Trainor joined the band completing the modern line up.

With thousands of followers on social media, it is easy to see that the spirit of early Metallica music is alive and well. Why the early stuff? Because for years, as fans, the guys went to tribute show after tribute show but no one was exclusively doing the early stuff so they figured why not them? With an authenticity that can only come from fans of the music, Master of Puppets takes you back to a time when it was all about the music and having fun.
